Charlotte York
Charlotte York, played by Kristin Davis, is a conservative Park Avenue Princess who is a strong believer in love and the perfect relationship. She works at an art gallery in New York City until the season 4 episode "Time and Punishment" when she decides to quit her job to try and become a full time mother with husband Trey. She attended Smith College where she got her degree: a major in Art History with a minor in Finance.
Charlotte's personality is definitely a bit more uptight than the other three girls. She doesn't like when the girls talk about sex like men; she believes women are different and have to feel true emotion in order to feel physically connected to a man. She is definitely a typical girly-girl being a former cheerleader and prom queen. She believes in old fashion romance; men should be powerful, make more money than their wives, and take women out on romantic dates. She is definitely a true optimist when it comes to finding love; even after a failed marriage, she believes the right man is out there for her.
Charlotte's taste is very crisp and classy. She doesn't like anything tacky; she is a typical Conneticut grown WASP who wears very small and dainty jewelry, cute shoes, and classy clothes. Although she is thought of to be the conservative one, there have been moments where Charlotte breaks out of her classy shell and surprises the girls with her "out-of-the-box" sexual experiences. When her and husband Trey get back together after a seperation, she mentions to the girls how they fool around all over town; restaurant bathrooms, hotel elevators, and anywhere else you could think of. She mentions in one episode how she is debating having a threesome with a guy she is newly dating, talks about some very raunchy sex positions that her and Trey have tried, and even gets obsessed with using a vibrator in season 1.
Personality wise, Charlotte is very sensitive and emotional. She even admits to be self conscious about her thighs on more than one occasion and on her 36th birthday in season 5, she displays pure fear at the thought of getting older and turning into and "Old Maid". She deeply loves her friends and is definitely the most maternal of the group. She is caring and is always willing to listen to her friend's boyfriend issues and help in any way she can.
Instead of having a few main relationships like the other three girls, Charlotte is the only one to have two husbands throughout the series. Her first husband, Trey Macdougal is the typical man you would picture for Charlotte: a heart surgeon from family money who is handsome, polite, smart, and sensitive. He does have one downfall though: a very pushy and opinionated mother, Bunny Macdougal. Trey and Charlotte meet in the season 3 episode "Drama Queens" and get married only five episodes later ("Don't Ask, Don't Tell). By rushing into a marriage with a man she falls head over heels with instantly, she realizes the marriage isn't as perfect as she had hoped. Trey has an erectile disorder and they face a few dry months at the beginning of their marriage consisting of only a couple of momentary attempts at a sex life. They seperate at the end of season 3 and then get back together in season 4 and try to have a baby. After trying to conceive the natural way for many months with no succes, the couple resorts to fertility testing and Charlotte finds out she has a 15% chance of over conceiving a baby. The couiple goes through a rough patch where Trey finally decides he no longer wants to have a baby. The couple then divorces for good.
Charlotte meets her second husband, Harry Goldenblatt at his law office; he becomes her divorce lawyer. He is instantly attracted to Charlotte but he is not her type at all; he's bald, hairy, short, chubby, slobby, and pushy. They end up sharing an intimate moment which leads them to have sex. Charlotte realizes Harry is the best sex she has ever had and they slowly develop a relationship. In the last episode of season 5, "I Love a Charade", Charlotte realizes she is falling for Harry except that there's one problem: he can only marry a Jewish girl. During season 6, Charlotte decides to convert to the Jewish Faith. After many failing attempts to conceive a baby, Charlotte and Harry end up adopting a baby girl from China named Lily. Charlotte finally gets everything she ever wanted.
